1) Provide breakfast every 2nd and 4th Saturday for 70-80 people at Pomona Valley Christian Center. This includes the purchase of food for the meal, preparation and serving. Many thanks to those who donate clothing that is delivered and distributed at these breakfast gatherings. Also, many, many thanks to those who have delivered the Gospel messages at the breakfasts to provide spiritual nourishment.

2) Dinner is purchased, prepared and served one night in January for approximately 200 guests of the Winter Shelter Program at Glenkirk Church in Glendora. In addition we provide the food for a continental breakfast and sack lunches. Up to 50 members from the LVHPC congregation participate annually.

3) Provided furniture during the spring and summer of 2009 to about a dozen homeless families who were moving into unfurnished apartments.

4) Other special events this year included: gift baskets for a spring picnic for needy families of the Claremont area, snacks for the Vacation Bible School for children in low income apartments in Pomona, first aid kits for Project Connect Day in Pomona, and sponsorship of the Homeless Persons' Memorial Service.

5) Provided food and other emergency needs including: clothing, bus passes, gasoline vouchers, motel nights, rental assitance/deposits for move-ins, and utility assistance for the recently formerly homeless.

A Christmas "Thank you" from the LVHPC Homelessness MInistry Group for all of your support in 2009 and especially during the holiday season. Your giving at the Alternative Christmas enabled us to provide 25 good quality sleeping bags, 19 sturdy backpacks filled with hygiene supplies, 45 umbrellas, and 19 warm scarf/glove/hat/sock sets. These gifts were distributed on Christmas Day, following worship and a holiday meal (served to 250 people) at the Pomona Valley Christian Center, a small church that ministers to the area's homeless. The items were welcome gifts for many who would otherwise have no gifts for Christmas.
