Worship Ministry Group
O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!
O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our maker!
For He is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of
his land.
O that today you should listen to His voice!
(Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7)
Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.

The Worship Ministry Group's purpose is to provide oversight and leadership for our faith family's worship life — its planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. To this end, we seek to be faithful stewards of the worship life and space of La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church so that
- God will be praised, glorified and followed
- Our people may be transformed and renewed in Christ
- The Church may be equipped by the Holy Spirit for God's service in this community and the world
Some of the goals and objectives that guide us are :
- God is the source, center and focus of our worship. We seek first to please God and not ourselves.
- Our worship will reflect God's gospel story centered in Christ.
- We will assist people in nurturing a sense of expectancy and consider how best to help people prepare their hears and minds to meet God.
- In worship we seek to move people from spectators to active participants. We affirm that worship takes place in the context of a faith community to encounter God and one another.
- We will utilize the diverse gifts of our people in worship leadership.
- We will celebrate in the sanctuary to be sent out into the world to serve.
Some of the ministries into which we invite and equip people to serve are: liturgist; children's story presenter; greeter; usher; acolyte; prayer team; music; chancel choir, praise band, children's choir; and sound technician .
