La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church has a unique way of organizing itself.

Like all Presbyterian churches, we have a Session. We also have a Board of Deacons but very few committees (and those only for required administrative functions of the church).

What we do have are ministry groups.

What is a Ministry Group?

La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church defines a ministry group as

A small group of church members and friends ( it need only be large enough to plan and organize the ministry of that group )

who gather together for a period of time ( the ministry continues only as long as the ministry group thinks it should continue )

both to undertake a common mission ( a ministry group is responsible for carrying out the church's ministry in its chosen area of mission and forms through people who feel called to that mission)

and to build a strong life in Christ together. ( a ministry group also has a community life together that includes prayer, Bible study, and encouraging each other )

There are also three Task Forces and a Support Group active in specialized ministries:
Cancer Support Group - Homeless Task Force - Fellowship Task Force - Adult Education Task Force

There is a separate page for Ministry Group Administrative items

As a people committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we nurture and equip each other to be disciples, who perceive and carry out God's call to our mission: to share the Gospel and address community and world needs to the glory of God.
