La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church has a unique way of organizing itself.
Like all Presbyterian churches, we have a Session. We also have a Board of Deacons but very few committees (and those only for required administrative functions of the church).
What we do have are ministry groups.
What is a Ministry Group?
La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church defines a ministry group as
A small group of church members and friends ( it need only be large enough to plan and organize the ministry of that group )
who gather together for a period of time ( the ministry continues only as long as the ministry group thinks it should continue )
both to undertake a common mission ( a ministry group is responsible for carrying out the church's ministry in its chosen area of mission and forms through people who feel called to that mission)
and to build a strong life in Christ together. ( a ministry group also has a community life together that includes prayer, Bible study, and encouraging each other )

The Board of Deacons are also active in ministries of caring and compassion at La Verne Heights Presbyterian Church.
There are also three Task Forces and a Support Group active in specialized ministries:
Cancer Support Group - Homeless Task Force - Fellowship Task Force - Adult Education Task Force
